LIBIA POSADA (Colombia, 1959)


Posada studied medicine and fine arts at Antioquia University. Among her individual exhibitions are Materia gris o la imposibi­lidad de la razón [Gray Matter or the Impossibility of Reason], Luis Caballero Award, Santa Fe Gallery, Bogota (2011); Re– tratos [Portrait/Re–Treatment], Museo Nacional, Bogotá (2007); and Neurografías [Neurographs], Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño, Bogotá (2006). Among her recent group exhibitions are Fotoespaña, Madrid (2011), Face Contact, Iberia Art Center, Beijing, China (2012); Máquinas [Machines], Centro de Medios Oi Futuro, Belo Horizonte, Brazil (2011); Skin, The Welcome Trust, London, UK (2010); and Peau [Skin], Claude Verdan Foundation, Lausanne, Switzerland (2012). The artist has received important distinctions such as a nomination for a grant with the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (2007); representing Colombia in the VIII Havana Biennial (2003); and first prize in the Regional Artists Salon, Medellín (2000). Her work can be found in private collec­tions in Chile, Colombia, France, and the United States as well as in various museum collections throughout Colombia. She lives and works in Medellín.
