KADER ATTIA (France, 1970)

He is the son of an Algerian family living in Paris. Studied philosophy and Visual Arts in Paris and arts at La Massana School of Applied Arts in Barcelona. His first individual exhibition was held in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1996. He won international recognition at the 50th Venice Biennial (2003) and the Lyon Biennial (2005). His works is featured in the collections of the Tate Modern, London; the MoMA, New York; the Georges Pompidou Center, Paris, and the MAHTAF, Qatar, among others. His work examines the relationship between Western thought and other cultures, especially through architecture, and notions of the body, history, nature and culture. He lives and works in Berlin and Algiers.
