FREDY ALZATE (Colombia, 1975)


He obtained a BA in Visual Arts at the Universidad de Antioquia and in 2006 graduated from the Universidad Nacional in Bogotá with a MA in Plastic and Visual Arts. He has held a variety of indi­vidual exhibitions in Colombia and participated in collective exhibi­tions like Artecámara. ARTBO Art Fair, Bogotá (2010); Corte 50 in the Medellín Museum of Modern Art (2009) and the Second Salon of Bidimensional Art, Bogotá (2005). His work is featured in Colombian collections like that of the Banco de la República (Bogotá), the Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation (Bogotá), the Museum of Antioquia and the Medellín Museum of Modern Art. The architectural contradictions of Latin American cities and their symbolic dimensions are an important theme in his installa­tions and drawings. He lives and works in Medellín.
