How to get to Medellín

 

By air

 

Via the  José María Córdoba International Airport  that recieves local and international flight, or via the Nacional Olaya Herrera Airport that only applies for local flights.

 

From Bogotá, the airlines that fly into the city are Copa Airlines, Avianca, Viva Colombia, Satena, Searca (charter). From international destinations are attended by TACA, LAN, LACSA, Spirit y American Airlines as well.

 

By land

 

From the bus terminals

The bus terminal receives buses from different local destinations such as  Bogotá, Cartagena, Cali, Tunja, Barranquilla, etc.

 

By car

There are 4 main highways that connect to Medellín depending on the place within Colombia where you begin your trip:

 

1.   Troncal de la Costa Norte, if you are coming from the North (Barranquilla, Cartagena y Santa Marta, etc).

 

2.   Troncal de Occidente, conecting with the city of Cali and the Valle del Cauca region.

 

3.   La Autopista Medellín, that connects with Bogotá.

 

4.   La Troncal del Café, that is part of the Panamericana highway, connects Medellín with the “Coffee Triangle”.

 

Medellín is:

 

  • A 30 minute flight from Bogotá.
  • A 45 minute flight from Cali.
  • A 1 hour flight from Cartagena, Barranquilla, Panama City and Quito.
  • A 2 hour flight from the capital of Costa Rica and Venezuela.
  • A 3 hour flight from Miami (United States) and Lima (Peru).
  • A 6 hour flight from Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Nueva York (United States).
